Canadian startup Y-Tricity uses unique technique to test prototypes.


Minimalistic, aesthetic, modern and pre-eminent are all fundamentals of the Y-Wall, the World’s First-Ever Wall Mounted Wireless Charger. This revolutionizing wireless charger will alter the way we perceive wireless charging. Yacine Hamdani, a software engineer student at University of Montreal, has designed a one of a kind wireless charger which blends in with any surrounding, any room as well as any environnement. The Y-Wall has been designed with a top of the line 3D modelling software, CATIA, which permits a rapid prototyping phase - each prototype model is swiftly virtually tested insuring the highest yield in functional prototypes. This technique saves time and money, which can then be invested in the design and manufacturing of other parts of the Y-Wall. Furthermore, the production phase implements additive manufacturing, also known as 3D printing, specifically using Stereolithographic technology - SLA - which enables prototypes manufacturers to achieve layers of 10 μm. Therefore, this Stereolithographic technology coupled with a rapid prototyping phase on 3D modelling softwares insures the impression of the Y-Wall’s inclosure, to which a Printed Circuit Board - PCB - can be attached without the use of any screws. Only this type of manufacturing can offer the possibility of a one piece wireless charger, which gives the Y-Wall an aesthetically pleasant look. The Y-Wall is an innovative product in all ways, from design to prototyping and manufacturing.
